About Leo Lundy
Leo Lundy is a researcher at Trinity College Dublin’s Centre for Biomedical Engineering (TBCE), working within the Reilly Lab. His work explores the physiology, psychology, and cognition of lifelong multi-marathoners — runners who have completed 100 or more marathons — to understand how extreme endurance participation influences health, resilience, and ageing.
Through large-scale international datasets and close collaboration with research partners worldwide, his work integrates demographic, physiological, and psychological data to identify both the strengths and risks of sustained endurance sport.
Leo is currently pursuing a PhD at Trinity College Dublin and has personally completed more than 400 marathons across 22 countries.
Leo’s work has been featured in major outlets including The Guardian, The Times, and Runner’s World, and presented at conferences such as ECSS Rimini 2025 and ISSP Hong Kong 2025.
